About Us

Enter our world

Ahura Support is a warm and nurturing abode for differently abled individuals and their families. Here, care, love and dignity come first. As a secular, registered charitable trust founded in 2006, we work towards empowering individuals with developmental, congenital and acquired disorders, most of whom are differently abled.

At Ahura Support, we believe that every individual deserves the chance to discover their abilities, gain independence and live with respect in an inclusive world. Through our holistic programmes, including parent support groups, vocational training, day care and residential care, we offer a lifelong support system built on compassion, understanding and empowerment.

We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering an environment where each one is valued for their unique contributions. Our community-centred approach ensures that individuals receive tailored care that meets their specific needs, while also promoting inclusion and social integration. We actively collaborate with families, volunteers, student interns and professionals to create a network of support that extends beyond our programmes and into broader efforts for awareness, sensitisation and inclusivity across the community.

Vision & Mission

Vision Statement

Integrated and sustainable support for the differently abled.

Mission Statement

Maximising opportunities for differently abled individuals to discover their abilities, empower themselves, gain independence and live with dignity in an inclusive environment. Ahura Support aims to nurture, empower and walk alongside differently abled individuals and their families.

This is done via our four verticals, namely:

  • Vocational Training & Day Care Centre
  • Ahura Support Residential Home (ASRH)
  • Parent Support Groups
  • Sensitisation programmes

The objective of very initiative is to create safe and inclusive spaces where abilities are celebrated and dignity is honoured, bringing us closer to a more compassionate, accessible world. We are more than an organisation; we are a family, ensuring no differently abled individual is left behind and no family navigates this journey alone.

History

Ahura Support was born in 2006 from a deeply personal need to create a safe, supportive space for differently abled individuals and their families.

Inspired by her friend Gulshan Kavarana’s successful parent support group in Dubai, our Founder Trustee, Hutoxi Doodhwala, was encouraged to bring a similar model to Mumbai.

What began as a simple sensitisation programme in a local colony gradually evolved into a structured initiative, supported by like-minded individuals who went on to become Founder Trustees. Over time, the inclusion of parents, financial experts and educationists helped shape Ahura Support into the holistic care organisation it is today.

The combined model of residential care, vocational training and parent support is based on recommendations from a detailed TISS report, which has since been thoughtfully implemented to guide our long-term vision and practice.
