Kersi Khodaiji’s story

Humming his own tune

When you hear a buzzing sound, you know Kersi is humming his way into the room at Ahura Support.

At 58 years old, Kersi Khodaiji has found comfort and care with us. When his previous residential care facility shut down, he was welcomed by Ahura Support and has been a resident here since 2018.

Born with Down’s Syndrome and severe intellectual deficits, Kersi requires round-the-clock support. He prefers to keep to himself, rarely seeking attention but his smile and gestures say more than words ever could. He is happiest in familiar company, where he feels safe and at ease. Kersi keeps himself busy as a bee, moving through his day in his own quiet way.

Music is his greatest joy. Whether it’s a rhythmic beat or a soothing melody, he enjoys listening and being part of musical activities. He also loves outings and picnics, where he can experience new surroundings while staying close to his caregivers.

Though Kersi needs constant care, he asks for very little. He follows his caregiver’s instructions, trusts those around him and simply enjoys being in his world. At Ahura Support, he is not just looked after, he is accepted, cherished and given a life of quiet contentment.
